Golf can be fun no matter how skilled a person may be, but it’s human nature to enjoy something more if you are good and excel at it. Wouldn’t you agree?I know from personal experience that when I play well I feel much more exhilarated than when I have a bad round. Either way I enjoy the challenge of the game and always look forward to return and try to play better the next time. That’s why taking lessons will help you attain your highest level of skill and allow you to enjoy the game much faster than self teaching.

Don’t get me wrong, I self taught as stated earlier, and learning was a real challenge but I enjoyed the ride. So if lessons are not for you right now, for whatever reason, tight budget, time constraints, etc. don’t let the joy of playing golf slip away by giving up. Self teach or learn from a friend or relative, watch video training DVD’s (check ads on this site for some excellent teaching aids) read books on golf like I did, but whatever you do don’t give up. You will be missing out on one of the greatest games ever devised by man.

Most golfers will admit that golf is 90% mental, yet most spend all their time and efforts on the mechanical aspect of the game. The golfing industry hasn’t helped the trend by breaking down the swing and analyzing each of its components. Although, the average handicap for club players is still the same as it was 20 years ago. Even with all the new technology in equipment and video analysis.

Everyone seems to be teaching or learning the perfect swing, but little do people realize that almost no one has a perfect swing, not even the pros. Each of us has a certain way of swinging the club, even if we are taught the correct way in the beginning. Negative feelings have a lot to do with our swing. If you have a good swing, and negative thoughts, you still will not play good golf.

Most players are distracted and not totally concentrating on their shot at one time or another. Each time this happens, you can lose a stroke or two. If this happens only 4-5 times a round, it could add a lot of strokes to your score.

Putting- the Art of the Game of Golf.

Posted by Guru Golf

Putting is much simpler than driving the golf ball and doesn’t have to be a complex set of events. It is an art to be cultivated and acquired through your own individuality or personality.

It’s an art because it is a reflection of the philosophy of the putter. Putting is an important game within the game of golf as it is an art requiring vivid imagination and sharp eyesight to assess the characteristics of the green, good judgment to gauge the distance for long putts, as well as the power and touch to strike a “specialized” stroke and to deliver the perfect putt. Using the putter is both the easiest and most difficult part of golf. It’s the most precise aspect of the game of golf and so the putter must be designed to give the golfer every technology advantage including smooth stroke, good glide, sweet impact, and bounceless topspin ball launch and every technique advantage including perfect fit as to shaft angle and length.

Golfers refer to this as “going to school” on a putt. Golfers, many times, are overanxious to see the result, so they lift their head and turn their body too quickly. Sometimes, golfers also try to hit the ball with their wrists.
