Golf can be fun no matter how skilled a person may be, but it’s human nature to enjoy something more if you are good and excel at it. Wouldn’t you agree?I know from personal experience that when I play well I feel much more exhilarated than when I have a bad round. Either way I enjoy the challenge of the game and always look forward to return and try to play better the next time. That’s why taking lessons will help you attain your highest level of skill and allow you to enjoy the game much faster than self teaching.

Don’t get me wrong, I self taught as stated earlier, and learning was a real challenge but I enjoyed the ride. So if lessons are not for you right now, for whatever reason, tight budget, time constraints, etc. don’t let the joy of playing golf slip away by giving up. Self teach or learn from a friend or relative, watch video training DVD’s (check ads on this site for some excellent teaching aids) read books on golf like I did, but whatever you do don’t give up. You will be missing out on one of the greatest games ever devised by man.

How to Become the Best Golf Player You Can

Posted by Guru Golf

Being a good golfer results from a lot more than your final score. It’s about your skill, knowledge of the game, athletic ability, understanding of golf etiquette, and sportsmanship on the green.

There are three key areas of study that will take you from a mediocre golf player to a great one. They are athletic ability, skill and etiquette. Keep reading to learn the fundamentals of these golf elements along with a few tips on how to improve.

Athletic Ability

Admittedly, golf is a low-impact sport - some don’t even regard golf as a sport - but it still requires a healthy amount of walking, the strength needed to hit the ball a lengthy distance and your ability to stay focused during a round.

Though a surprise to many, the better shape you’re in, the better your golf game will be. Golf may seem like a simple game, but it requires more exertion than is apparent on the surface. Spending several hours on the course during the heat of the day to play 18 holes takes its toll.

Brisk walks or work around the house are great ways to maintain and improve your cardiovascular health. With a balanced diet and regular exercise, you’ll see your golf game improve noticeably.

Golf: Basics For Beginners

Posted by Guru Golf

These days there are a rising number of people who are getting into gold for the first time. If you’ve been a golfer for quite some time now, you might be looking back and remembering just how frustrating it was working on that swing and simply playing good. If you’re just a beginner however, it might seem daunting at first. All it takes is some practice, and more practice!

Golf to many is a great way to relax, spend the weekend and enjoy nature. You do have to reach a certain level of proficiency in the game to fully enjoy it though, which makes it all the more challenging and interesting in the first place. There are many books on golf available, however, there is not much in the shelves today that focus on golf for beginners. So as an alternative, you may want to look into schools, which often provide and introductory class that lasts up to 4 hours and costs about 300 bucks. Still, some beginners choose to practice on their own or with their friends once they feel that they’ve already got all the basic knowledge they need.

Most golfers will admit that golf is 90% mental, yet most spend all their time and efforts on the mechanical aspect of the game. The golfing industry hasn’t helped the trend by breaking down the swing and analyzing each of its components. Although, the average handicap for club players is still the same as it was 20 years ago. Even with all the new technology in equipment and video analysis.

Everyone seems to be teaching or learning the perfect swing, but little do people realize that almost no one has a perfect swing, not even the pros. Each of us has a certain way of swinging the club, even if we are taught the correct way in the beginning. Negative feelings have a lot to do with our swing. If you have a good swing, and negative thoughts, you still will not play good golf.

Most players are distracted and not totally concentrating on their shot at one time or another. Each time this happens, you can lose a stroke or two. If this happens only 4-5 times a round, it could add a lot of strokes to your score.
